Global Innovation Gathering

Backing urban innovators worldwide 

Grassroots innovators in Global Majority countries are building practical solutions to urban challenges, from low cost climate monitoring and community recycling infrastructure to solar powered water technologies. The Global Innovation Gathering connects more than 250 innovation hubs and makerspaces worldwide to accelerate this work.  

Through the GIG Fund, our partnership provides small, flexible grants for early stage experimentation, where ideas are tested, refined, and adapted in real community settings. Through the fund’s participatory approach, innovators shape the selection process, support one another through shared learning, and openly document their designs so others can replicate and reiterate them. By combining flexible funding with open knowledge and peer collaboration, the Fund builds a distributed pipeline of urban solutions that can travel across cities and regions.
