Financing Alliance for Health

Strong health systems depend on governments having the resources, policies and expertise to finance essential services over the long term. Financing Alliance for Health is an African-led technical advisory organisation that works with governments to strengthen the financing of primary and community health care. It helps governments mobilise and make better use of domestic resources, improve financial management and build the skills needed to sustain health services.
Through our partnership, Financing Alliance for Health is strengthening its partnership with Ministries of Health and Finance and national insurance agencies in Senegal, Sierra Leone and Zambia. Embedded advisers and government fellows support these institutions to strengthen health financing policy and management, improve budget execution, and strengthen insurance and free care schemes.
By connecting national financing decisions with the needs of frontline services, the partnership aims to help public funding translate into more reliable primary health care and reduce the financial barriers people face when accessing essential services.
