The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network

A group of professionals stands outside the FANRPAN headquarters building for a team photograph. The gathering includes representatives and partners posed beneath the organisation’s signage, reflecting collaboration and engagement around regional food security, agriculture, and development initiatives in Africa.

Agriculture is a major driver of livelihoods, innovation and economic growth across Africa. Realising this potential depends not only on what happens on farms, but on strong policies, coordinated institutions and the effective use of evidence in decision making.

Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) works with governments, researchers and farmers to help strengthen how agricultural policies are developed, coordinated and implemented. Through the partnership, FANRPAN supports more coordinated approaches to agricultural policy development and implementation across Eastern and Southern Africa.

FANRPAN is implementing the ‘Capacity Strengthening for Policy Implementation towards Improved Livelihoods and Local Agrifood Systems Resilience in Africa’ Programme (CS-PILLAR), which aims to strengthen seed systems in Eswatini, improve post-harvest management in Uganda, and formalise community-based livestock services in Zimbabwe. Lessons drawn from these three country interventions will be used to support governments and regional bodies to align policies, strengthen coordination and build institutional capacity for implementation.

By connecting research, policy and community perspectives, FANRPAN is helping strengthen agricultural systems in ways that support farmers, markets and communities across the region. Learn more about FANRPAN by visiting their website.
