With You We Can is working to ensure victim-survivors of sexual violence are informed, supported, and able to navigate Australia’s legal system. 

Led by lived experience and informed by advocates, experts and frontline services, With You We Can developed a national first collaborative resource hub to help demystify police and legal processes while working to improve them.  

Through its advocacy, With You We Can is championing Independent Legal Representation (ILR), a proven approach that gives victims in sexual assault cases a dedicated lawyer to protect their rights, privacy, and wellbeing throughout the criminal process. Without independent representation, victims can face retraumatisation, invasive scrutiny, and a lack of clear information, contributing to low reporting rates and poor outcomes. ILR addresses these harms by providing tailored legal advice and representation, ensuring victims’ voices are heard and their rights are protected. Adopted internationally with positive results, With You We Can has advocated to implement ILR in Australia, with the model now a key recommendation of the Australian Law Reform Commission’s 2025 inquiry into justice responses to sexual violence.
