Tranby

A group of people sit in a circle outdoors on logs arranged around a central fire pit, engaged in conversation. They wear matching brightly patterned shirts, suggesting they are part of the same group or event. The setting is a natural, sandy area with trees and vegetation nearby, creating a calm, communal atmosphere focused on discussion and connection.

Tranby Aboriginal Co-operative

Tranby Aboriginal Co-operative is one of Australia’s oldest Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, supporting self-determined learning, leadership and social change since 1957. Through its Yanalangami: Strong Women, Strong Communities program, Tranby creates culturally grounded spaces where First Nations women can connect, heal, grow their confidence and strengthen their leadership on their own terms.

Over the past six years, Yanalangami has supported more than 200 First Nations women across urban, regional and remote communities, helping participants build confidence, deepen cultural connection and drive change in their families, workplaces and communities.

Our partnership supports the next chapter of Yanalangami through a national process of deep listening, reflection and co-design with First Nations women, Elders and community leaders. Together, they will shape the program’s long term future so it can continue reaching more women while remaining grounded in culture, community leadership and self-determination. You can learn more about Tranby’s work by visiting their website, and the Yanalangami: Strong Women, Strong Communities program here
